Over the past year and a half, I have had the pleasure of not only taking lessons at Castle Farm but also feeding the horses of CF 3 mornings a week. Feeding the horses in the mornings is one of my favorite parts of my day. Being able to be a part of their daily routine and form special bonds and friendships with them is something I treasure. I especially loved this relationship with Schuyler. I loved being able to be a part of his world! His gentle yet demanding soul and larger-than-life personality made him so loveable. That pony made me laugh before the sun had even come up, and that is a wonderful way to start your day!! I have many favorite memories of Schuyler, including times we spent out on walks on the trail and his tendency to stand directly in your eyesight to be sure he was first to be fed. Walking by his stall and seeing his little nose poking out and butt facing towards his personal fan always put a smile on my face. I think my most favorite memory of Sky, though, was on a particularly hot and humid day as I was leaving the barn and looked over into his ditch to see Sky standing there looking like Richard Simmons. It turns out horses are just like us, and they fall victim to the “humid hair”. I was laughing so hard I had to stop and get a picture of him. His face says it all. He was a special little guy and an awesome friend! I am so glad I had the chance to get to know him.
