A few carriage short stories from Heather

“Once Schuyler had been driving for a little while and proving, not only his love for the job, but also his confidence and consistent performance, my parents surprised me with an amazing gift of a gorgeous green and black pony gig that was specially designed and made just for Schuyler!  It fit him to a tee, and the colors were gorgeous!  After that Christmas, he always competed in his personalized pony cart.  I had an outfit and lap robes designed to match the cart as well.  Through the years, I added a few adornments, like authentic antique lamps.”

“We would typically body clip Schuyler for his bigger driving competitions because a good clip job really brought out his silver dapple color the best.  Otherwise, he would usually look like a light brown dun.  His mane and tail were a creamy white color, but it often looked dingy and dirty, even when we washed it really well before competitions.  One year, we decided to go “all out,” and we dyed his mane, tail, and forelock with a platinum blonde hair dye made for women.  It was a painstaking process because we had to cover up the rest of his body so that we didn’t get hair dye on it.  His mane and tail did come out looking really good, but we never did it again because of how difficult it was!”
