Schuyler spanned many generations of my family. Growing up, I would always bring out any family members or friends that wanted to meet horses. Despite his seemingly unfriendly demeanor, he was (almost) always well-behaved, but he was also much less intimidating for non-horse people to meet, as compared to my bigger horses. Growing up, I wasn’t interested in much else besides horses, so it was probably difficult for non-horse people in my life to find something to talk to me about since most of them weren’t interested in horses. However, anyone who knew me knew about Schuyler, which was always an easy talking point.
It would be next to impossible for me to list all of the family and friends that have met Schuyler over the years, so I will stick with the closest – Chris tells the story of the first time he met Schuyler in his post on the memory blog. Chris and Schuyler went on to be a fantastic driving team and even racked up a bunch of awards for their efforts.
One of my wishes, as I grew up, was that my own children would get to enjoy the wonder of Schuyler. That wish definitely came true with Dylan, but we’ll talk about that on another page… 🙂
